Permanent make-up (PMU) places pigment in the upper layers of the skin to give your brows shape and colour. It is semi-permanent: it fades gradually. Paola only does PMU after a free consultation, in The Hague and, in certain periods, in Barcelona.

Microblading or powder brows?
Which technique suits you depends on your skin, your own brows and what you want. You discuss that in the free consultation.
- Microblading Fine hair strokes are drawn into the skin with a manual tool. It looks like natural hairs and suits filling in gaps or correcting the shape.
- Powder brows The pigment is applied in a fine dot pattern. This gives a soft, powdered effect, similar to brow powder. It suits anyone who wants an even, soft fill.
How it works
- Free 15-minute consultation. We discuss shape, colour and your skin, and whether PMU is right for you. You also hear what the treatment costs.
- The treatment. The pigment is applied. You take the aftercare instructions home.
- Top-up after 6 to 8 weeks. Once your skin has healed, the result is touched up where needed.
- After that. The result fades over 1 to 3 years. You can then have it refreshed.
Who it suits, and when to wait
PMU does not suit everyone. Speak to Paola first, or wait, if you have:
- pregnancy or breastfeeding
- blood thinners
- diabetes that is not well controlled
- keloid scarring (a tendency to form excessive scar tissue)
- Roaccutane (isotretinoin) in the past year
- chemotherapy

How to prepare
For the treatment itself, Paola gives you the exact preparation. In general:
- Bring photos of brows you like.
- Do not wax, tweeze or tint your brows in the week before your appointment.
- Do not drink alcohol the day before your appointment.
- Tell us beforehand about any medication, allergies and skin problems.
Aftercare
This is how healing goes, day by day. The exact timeline differs from person to person.
- Days 1 to 3: the brows look darker and may be slightly swollen.
- Days 4 to 10: the skin flakes. Do not scratch or pick.
- Weeks 2 to 4: the colour looks lighter.
- After 4 to 6 weeks: the final colour shows.
- After 6 to 8 weeks: the top-up treatment.
- For 10 days, no sun, sauna or swimming pool, and no make-up on the treated area.
- Use the healing ointment as Paola instructs you.

Can I have PMU if I am pregnant or breastfeeding?
